In my family, we call complaints and bad attitudes “turkeys.” So it only seems natural to use this concept to encourage gratitude at Thanksgiving to turn those turkeys around! We draw turkeys on colored paper and cut them out. On the back of each turkey, we write a Bible verse about gratitude or blessings. Then when one of us says something ungrateful, that person writes or draws something he or she is thankful for on the front of a turkey. During Thanksgiving dinner, we read the turkeys aloud and thank God for our blessings.
Listening to Family Life Today radio program today. It is a past program talking about gratitude. The speaker said he thinks Gratitude is one of the most important virtues.
Thinking about being thankful . I heard a preacher say once we do need to be thankful for the material things that we always thank God for . House, food, clothes ect.. But the most important things really need to be thankful for is the things that only He can give. Holy Ghost, His Blood, Mercy, Grace, Peace, Joy, His Word, Truth….
Giving thanks is a choice.
An interesting thing I learned recently is the word for gratitude or thanks is built on the Greek word grace – unmerited favor.
The Bible says in Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
1 Thessalonians 5:18King James Version (KJV)
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
