Wow in following this series I have been thinking about it and when I went to midweek service at our local assembly the songs led me to the verse in

Philippians 4:11King James Version (KJV)

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

 I was amazed at what our Pastor taught and thought I would share a few things about what he said about being content. Good stuff as it always from the Word of God.

His subject was Contentedious.
He said it is not natural for us to be content. It is learned. It is a supernatural quality.
Content means to be satisfied
Contentious to strive.

Things we don't need to be content with is sickness, addiction, discouragement, your relationship with God we should be wanting to be better. When it comes to posessions, pleasure or position we need to be content on whatever scale you are on. It's ok to desire to be better or have more as long as you are content with what you already have not saying you want to be or have more but be content while you are striving.
We are plagued with impluse buying,relationships and binging.

Seed bed for immorality is discontentedness.

Hebrews 13:4-6King James Version (KJV)

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

If we have to get what we want to be content then we are not content, we are spoiled. You are really not content until you can be content in every state. How can we be content in any state because we have God with us.
Mark 15:12-15

Here is the song that we sang .

Acres of Diamonds, mountains of gold,
Rivers of silver, jewels untold;
All these together, wouldn't buy you or me
Peace when we're sleeping or a conscience that's free.
A heart that's contented, a satisfied mind,
These are the treasures, money can't buy;
If you have Jesus, there's more wealth in your soul,
Than Acres of Diamonds, mountains of gold.
