This year in April marks our 15th anniversary! Love him so… much!!!!We are a result of loving couples that have been examples to us and all the teaching we have heard. We have tried to take time to nourish our relationship. We have gone to a few marriage retreats and sessions gleaning all we can to be better spouses. Here are some notes from the last retreat we were to.
The retreat was called “I still Do” Approach every day as this is the day the LORD has made. Every issue in your marriage can be resolved in your relationship with God. The secret to being married a long time is have no secrets!! Take time to communicate. Don’t become bitter. Bitterness is like a cancer. Pray together before ever getting married. God will strengthen our marriage. Never use the word divorce. Longevity in Marriage 1.Respect 2.Excuse Him 3. Serving one another
Ephesians 5:33New King James Version (NKJV)
33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. A woman needs love like air to breathe. A man needs respect like air to breathe. A great marriage is what the husband and wife make it. Being extremely committed to one another and their marriage.
Proverbs 24:3-4New King James Version (NKJV)
3 Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; 4 By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.
Find room for the things of the spirit.
It’s not only finding the right mate but be the right spouse.
The missing ingredient in marriages is commitment. A marriage is not a contract between two people but a covenant between three.
Marriage is a journey not a destination- it’s treasures are found not just at the end but along the way.
I have also heard marriage referred to as a triangle with God at the top. The closer you get to God the closer you get to each other. God Bless your lives, homes family and marriages!!
