The little things

Happy Friday!

“The little things”I put this little saying as a blog title when I first started this blog a month or so ago because of this picture.

The kids had taken all the little stickers off the oranges and put these in my hallway. I naturally was like ugg what are you guys doing. That’s when I stopped myself and thought does it really matter, someday I’ll wish for those little annoying childish things that kids do. With my oldest creeping up on those teen years I need to enjoy each moment even Allie at four is not a baby anymore. Life passes quickly, enjoy each moment.

Song for a Fifth Child

by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,

Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,

Hang out the washing and butter the bread,

Sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?

She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue

(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due

(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew

And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo

But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.

Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?

(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,

For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.

So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.

I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

I’m reminded of this poem I seen when my kids were first little and have to remind myself often, not that the stickers don’t eventually have to come off or that we don’t have to stop training and steering our children in the right direction or that responsibilities still have to be taken care of but enjoy the  little things and savor those little things. Being a mom is a blessing and I wouldn’t trade it for everything!!!

So I leave you with this scripture and go give those kids a hug and enjoy those little annoying things . Zechariah 4:10  For who hath despised the day of small things? Don’t despise the day of small things God wants to do GREAT things!  Have a blessed day! Enjoy your weekend:)
